I see AR-15/M-16's in .223 but then .50 BMG ammunition. what's up with that?

I guess the cute little M4's there are about half way between a submachine gun and a carbine? anyway, they make a fun little poodle shooter.
I use the semi auto civilian version as practice/training for the kids and young ladies, to get them ready to shoot RIFLES.
I heard a rumor that our military is working on acquiring a service RIFLE, and some units actually still use the 50 year old M14 for specialty work.

Good question.

I would say Barrett, as they make the REC7 for uncle sugar, and 50BMG ammo, but those M4s don't look like Barretts to me. Maybe it is Barrett, or maybe ATK is assembling M4s at Lake City? Just guesses.

Re: Machine Gun Factory Pictures

The assumption is that this is the same plant because the pictures are together, but that probably is NOT the case.....there would be no need to manufacture link belted ammo in a plant that makes AR-15/M-4/whatever. IN fact, the process of ammo manufacturing and weapon manufacturing is so different, they wouldn't even take place in the same plant, with the possible exception of the Beowulf line.....and I'd say they subcontract their ammo.

You're right Andy.

Check out the walls and yellow shelving...definitely two different factories. I'm betting the ammo one is LC.

I did see a special recently on the History channel, I think, they were in a plant that made M-16's, it was in SC

I'm sure that Sukhoi Fan...especially...will appreciate these photos from a factory that makes firearms, not toys:

Sorry they're small...

That's a typo. I meant to post that they were machining some guns.
